Round-Table: Co-habitation
and between the arts and the science
During the first round table, several experiences concerning the relation between institutions and the exhibition of artworks and projects with a strong scientific and technologic content within a contemporary art context were discussed and presented. It followed an open debate entitled “Co-habitation and Dialogue between art and science”, aiming to discuss strategies to promote cooperation between these areas of culture and knowledge, in particular aiming to improve the commitment of institutional partners.
This round table was moderated by Marta de Menezes, pioneer artist in bio art, and the participants were Paulo Cunha e Silva, independent curator who organised some art and science projects during Porto 2001 European Capital of Culture, Derek Hales, director of the Digital Research Unit at Huddersfield University, António Cerveira Pinto, artist and independent curator and Luís Graça, scientist at the Institute of Molecular Medicine in Lisbon.
