Capsula

Two curators, Mónica Bello and Ulla Taipale, created Capsula in 2005, to explore the meeting point between art and natural sciences. Capsula was born in Barcelona, a meeting point between art, science and nature with the mission of building bridges between different disciplines and stimulate the dialogue and critical thinking. One of the most important Capsula projects is Dias de Bioarte, carried out in collaboration with Centro de Arte Santa Mónica and the Biology Faculty of University of Barcelona. Dias de Bioarte happened in 2006 and 2007 and introduced the work of leading bioartists in lectures, workshops, exhibition and round tables.

Another project produced and curated by Capsula is Neurótica, developed from 2006 to 2008. Neurótica was divided into three parts that study the fears and anxiousness related to the development of technologies in contemporary society. The three main areas of study are “bio”, “habitat” and “the other”.

Capsula has launched or participated in other projects such us Biorama I-II (Digital Reseach Unit, Huddersfield, UK), Taxonomies (Comafosca, Alella, Spain) Herbologies/Foraging Networks, ( Pixelache Festival / Kiasma / Helsinki Botanical Gardens / Serde in Finland and Latvia) and Halikonlahti Green Art Trilogy ( Salo Veturitalli Museum, Finland).
