In a time where credit to other people's work, especially to classic studies, is practically ignored in the field, we decided to organize a mini-symposium, to be held at IBMC in Porto, as a tribute to Miguel Mota’s visionary work on anaphase.

As part of this tribute, we invited several keynote speakers who have made significant contributions to our present understanding of the mechanisms of chromosome segregation.

We expect that this event will allow the discussion of different perspectives of a problem, as well as present the most recent progress in the field.

We expect at the end to elaborate a review on “anaphase” that will allow not only to disseminate Miguel Mota’s work but also to set the current state-of-the-art in order to identify future lines of research.
