Pathogen-Host interactions at mucosal surfaces that promote systemic disease
John Leong, Tufts University, Boston USA

Prof John Leong will give the IBMC-INEB Friday noon seminar on May 9. John is Professor of Molecular Biology and MIcrobiology at Tufts University. He investigates the microbe-host cell interactions that promote tissue invasion and systemic spread, as well as the components of the host immune response that contribute to immune protection and bacterial clearance. His research is focused in three human infection models: Enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli O157:H7, Streptococcus pneumoniae and Borreliae burgdorferi.
