The European Workshop on Bacterial Protein Toxins will take place in Portugal for the first time and the local organizing committee is composed of IBMC researchers, namely Nuno dos Santos, Ana do Vale, Didier Cabanes, Sandra Sousa, Francisco Mesquita, Rute Pinto, Liliana Marisa Pereira, Johnny Lisboa, José Martinho Peres, and Cláudia Brito.
ETOX is a label for a well-established and reputed series of “European Workshops on Bacterial Protein Toxins” initiated in 1983 with the impulsion of Joseph E. Alouf and in association with John Freer, Sjur Olnes, Paul Falmagne, Franz Fehrenbach, Rino Rappuoli and Torkel Wadstrom. Since then the ETOX series are held biannually throughout different European countries.
In its 17th edition, ETOX will be held at the complex "Hotéis do Bom Jesus” in the city of Braga in the north of Portugal from 20 to 24 of June 2015. The complex is embedded in a very pleasant garden located in a hill, 7 km away from the Braga’s city center, and surrounding a catholic sanctuary whose history dates from the IV century. The social program includes a visit to Oporto city with conference dinner at an old Oporto wine cellar. Together with the international scientific committee, we are preparing an excellent scientific program for ETOX17.
ETOX17 aims at bringing together the most renowned world scientists, young researchers and students for exchanging and discussing the latest and most exciting findings regarding all aspects of the research within the field of bacterial protein toxins. Following ETOX tradition, ETOX17 will include talks by world leaders combined with a significant number of short-talks, mainly devoted to early-stage researchers and students, and poster sections, which together with the social events will promote an excellent environment for interaction between established scientists and young researchers.
