BIOIMAGING2015: Symposium in Applied Bioimaging

The 4th Symposium in Applied Bioimaging , to be held in Porto from November 5-6, is this year organised jointly by INEB, IBMC and IPATIMUP.
Building up on the success of the three previous editions, this year the event will run under the motto The pre-clinical challenge in 3D. The Symposium has been designed as a forum for those interested in the application of bioimaging tools for life and medical sciences, covering aspects ranging from imaging modalities to analysis and simulation.

This edition of the symposium also includes a grand Challenge . It focuses on automatic classification of tumor malignancy in the context of breast cancer, using an image dataset of hematoxylin and eosin (HE) stained biopsy samples, created specifically for this Challenge. Besides a prize money, the winner team will receive one registration waiver to the Symposium and will be invited to present their work orally during the symposium.

The symposium will have the duration of two days, preceded by a hands-on workshop on bioimaging (held on November 4) . Keynote lectures, as well as podium and poster presentations will take place in a very informal environment, and participants will be encouraged to bring questions that may contribute to the advancement of knowledge in the field of applied Bioimaging.

Participation will be credited 1.5 credits according to the ECTS (European Credit Transfer System) . Also, the symposium will fund 10 grants on a competitive basis to cover the registration of graduate students and post-docs willing to present their work at the symposium.
