Workshop: Introduction to epidemiological research and the basics and methods of systematic reviews

This workshop introduces researchers to the main concepts and methodologies in epidemiological research and systematic reviews (and meta-analyses). It is aimed at both junior and senior researchers, and no knowledge of advanced statistics is required. This initiative is framed within the Portuguese-Hungarian bilateral project "Estimating the predictive validity of animal models of diabetes”, a collaboration with the University of Debrecen, headed at the i3S by Anna Olsson and Nuno Franco. Attendance is free and open to all the University of Porto community, but registration is mandatory (until November 22nd, by 16:00). A complimentary coffee-break will be offered. Attendance certificates will be issued upon request.

Lecturers
Attila Nagy, PhD, graduated as a medical doctor at the University of Debrecen in 2005. He also graduated, as an epidemiologist at the Faculty of Public Health, University of Debrecen in 2008. He obtained his medical specialization in preventive medicine in 2009 and defended his PhD in 2015 (University of Debrecen). He is involved in the undergraduate degree training programmes and in the master training programs at the Faculty of Public Health: preventive medicine seminars, lectures (medical students), epidemiology / biostatistics lectures and seminars (public health inspectors, physiotherapists, Bsc and Msc in Public Health).

Nóra Kovács graduated as public health supervisor (2011) and as an epidemiologist from the Faculty of Public Health (2013) of the University of Debrecen. She is involved in scientific research as a PhD student, as well as in undergraduate degree training programs and in the Masters training programs of the Faculty of Public Health: epidemiology / biostatistics lectures and seminars (public health inspectors, physiotherapists, health manager, Bsc in Public Health).
