The First Iberian Meeting on Extracellular Vesicles will take place in Porto, at Atmosfera m, on 30th September 2015. This is a joint meeting of Portuguese and Spanish researchers interested in the study of extracellular vesicles.
The meeting will bring together scientists of different backgrounds to discuss what is becoming an exciting and stimulating area of research.
Three scientific sessions will take place on the following themes: Infection and Immunology, Cancer, and a session devoted to the role of extracellular vesicles in other contexts. The program includes lectures delivered by invited scientists, oral presentations selected from submitted abstracts and poster sessions. Poster sessions will take place during coffee and lunch breaks and the best poster will be awarded with a prize at the end of the meeting. Invited speakers include Hernando del Portillo from the Barcelona Centre for International Health Research (CRESIB), Sónia Melo from i3S/ IPATIMUP and Marca H. M. Wauben from Utrecht University.
IBMC researcher Anabela Cordeiro da Silva with M. Helena Vasconcelos and Carla Oliveira from IPATIMUP are leading the organisation of this meeting with the hope it sets the ground for a new and stronger Iberian community devoted to the study of extracellular vesicles.
The call for abstracts will be opened until August 15 (notification of acceptance on September 7). Candidates can be selected for an oral or poster presentation. Oral presentations are limited to 12 slots of 20 minutes each. The Symposium will include a poster session as part of the program, during which contributors will have the opportunity to introduce and attract attention to their work. In this way, we expect to stimulate lively discussions and exchange of ideas between participants and speakers.
