2015 Young Investigator Career Award | Louis-Jeantet Foundation

This past Monday Fondation Louis-Jeantet handed the 2015 Young Investigator Career Award to IBMC researcher Hélder Maiato. The announcement had already been made in June, but it was only on October 12th, in Geneva, that Hélder Maiato was publicly acknowledged for his work on cell division and was granted 110k CHF (100k for research and 10k for personal expenses).

Instituted in 2011, the purpose of the Louis-Jeantet Young Investigator Career Award is to encourage the best and brightest in biomedical research and the winner is picked among the scientists previously awarded with an ERC Starting Grant and whose project is successfully approaching completion. Last year the foundation honored another Portuguese researcher and, this time around, decided to reward a research focused on the forces behind chromosome movement throughout cell division.
