Brain Awareness Week

The Brain Awareness Week (BAW) is the global campaign to increase public awareness of the progress and benefits of brain research. Every March people of several countries unit the efforts on a celebration of the brain for people of all ages. Events are limited only by the organizers’ imaginations and include open days at neuroscience labs; exhibitions about the brain; lectures on brain-related topics; displays at libraries and community centers; classroom workshops; and more. The headquarters of the Brain Awareness Week is the Dana Alliance for Brain Initiatives.

IBMC•INEB also celebrates the Global Brain Awareness Week. Our neuroscientists are involved in school visits where they talk about the brain; they also receive students in their laboratories and develop other activities aimed to increase public awareness about the progress and benefits of brain research.

In 2011 celebration of the BAW, the IBMC•INEB was mostly involved in the activity: Roteiro do Cérebro.
